Throughout her entire life, Merri Williams has been involved in music, first as a beginning piano student at age 4, later as a performer of both flute and piano, and, lastly, as a music educator for the past 35 years. A graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, Merri holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education, having graduated with honors (magna cum laude). She has taught in both public and private schools, including a local junior college, as well as offering private instruction in flute and piano in her home studio for the past 33 years, providing high quality instruction combined with a deep personal interest and mentor relationship with each student. Merri is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Music Therapy.
Merri has also directed children’s choirs of all ages in her church fellowship for the past 25 years, enjoying the opportunity to share her love of music with children throughout the school year and in summer music camps. She is currently the Children’s Choirs Coordinator as well as director of the Young Musicians and Music Makers Choirs at Zion Baptist Church of Covington, Georgia. Accompanying the senior adult choir, known as the Jubilee Choir, and playing in the Worship Orchestra each week keeps her own musical skills sharpened and active.
To further hone her skills and expand her musical background as well as providing performance opportunities for her students, she is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association, the Decatur Music Teachers Association, the American Orff Schulwerk Association, the National Federation of Music Clubs, and the Partnership of Kindermusik Educators. Merri is also the State Representative for Georgia in the Partnership of Kindermusik Educators.
Married for 34 years to David Williams, Merri is the mother of five children, two sons and three daughters, ranging in ages from 30 to 13 years of age. She is a native Atlantan and a lifelong resident of DeKalb County.

Just wanted to tell you about http://www.toddlertoddler.com .
It’s a website for toddlers where we encourage parent/teacher interaction during playtime. We’ve created some fun activities that you probably won’t find at other places.
Great site by the way! I loved the classical funny video. I will survive!
Have a great day!
I was so very pleased to find “The Carnival of Animals” on your sight. Who was the recording by? Wonderful, thanks so much
F.M.Holland
Fredrick,
I’ve emailed the videographer of this video and asked for further details on the recording. You’re not the first person who has asked me that question, and I’d like to know the answer myself. As soon as I hear from her, I’ll post the answer here.
Thanks for stopping by. I’m glad you enjoyed the clip!
are you by any chance Merri Gladden Williams? if so i think we went to SWD at the same time – i graduated in ’71 (!). i didn’t play an instrument but hung around with Mike Cox, Cille Watson, Jeff Weaver, Brad Reagin…i remember you (if it IS you!) and David well.
Linda Stoutenburg Kirkland
p.s. have a 2yo and actually am trying to find out about a class for her!
Linda
Hi, Linda! I am indeed the same person from SWD – Class of ’72. Those names brought back a *ton* of memories! I’m still in touch with Brad through Facebook, but I haven’t seen or heard anything from Mike, Cille, or Jeff in years. Thanks for stopping by and chatting!
Your 2yo is the perfect age for Our Time classes!
I have an Our Time class on Monday evenings at 6:30 in Avondale. My Saturday morning class meets at 10:20 at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, but it’s almost over – only tomorrow and then next week, until January.
Our Open House will be January 9th, with the new semester beginning January 23rd. Online registration actually begins next Monday, November 9th, and it usually fills up very quickly. This class was full and closed out before we even began our first class back at the beginning of August!
If you’re interested in more information, shoot me an email at Kindermerri at yahoo.com, and I’ll be glad to answer any questions you may have, Linda. Good to hear from you!
